2 yr old Swallowing Vomit

IS IT HARMFUL FOR A TODDLER TO SWALLOW THEIR VOMIT WHILE BEING SICK? MY FRIENDS 2 YR OLD SON OUT OF THE BLUE BECOME REALLY ILL AND AS THE SYMPTOMS INCREASED HE BEGAN TO THROW UP BUT HE SWALLOWED IT EVERYTHING I WAS WANTING TO KNOW IF IT WAS HARMFUL TO HIS BODY OR MAKE HIM EVEN SICKER OR IT JUST SCARED HIM TO THROW UP BECAUSE HE HAS NEVER BEEN SICK AND THROWING UP LIKE HE IS, PLEASE LET US KNOW WE ARE VERY CONCERNED FOR HIM!

Hello Tammara,

Thank you for your questions and concerns. Swallowing vomit is not harmful. Especially when it is not in large quantities. If this is the first time he is ill, then he does not understand to actually allow the vomit to come out of his mouth. Toddlers cannot get the hang of how to vomit. Their first instinct is to swallow.

Just talk to him and explain to him to just let it come out and try not to swallow it. He will get the hang of it soon. I wish you well and hope he feels better....:0)
