My grandson keeps having diarrhea every other week. He's a very picky eater and only drinks soy milk, dry cereal for breakfast and dinner is white rice and tofu. For snack he'll eat cookies. Is this causing his diarrhea? He did have a kidney surgery at age 6 months

Hello Ele!
Thanks for your question. Diarrhea is a major concern if it goes on for a long period of time. Although your grandson is having infrequent bouts you may want to try and consider the source. Soy milk is a healthy alternative, but soy can deplete the body of magnesium. You may want to ask the doctor about switching him to rice milk or almond milk. (please ask the pediatrician before doing this! In case of any food allergies. ) Also I noticed that he does not have many fruits and vegetables in his diet. He may be a picky eater, BUT it is important to continue offering different fruits and vegetables. You can make him a fruit smoothie or fun pizzas..etc There are tons of ways to "hide" those fruits and vegetables. I have a great page on my site to give you some tips. The link is below:
